Random memory of the day:

When I was in pre-school, we used pencils, to write. But when pre-school was over and we started elementary school, our teachers said "from now on, you're not allowed to use pencils to write; you will use pens instead." At the moment, I was excited, because in my (then) little girl mind, that meant a step towards growing up. "Now I can use pens, like my father!" I asked for them in three colors (blue for normal writing, red for titles, black for side notes), and when I was in University I added a fourth color, green, to write special words. Yes, I've always written using colors.

I often read that the way you're sure you're keeping things PG is by following this rule: do not do or say anything you wouldn't do in front of your grandmother. And I really have trouble with that: My grandmother is the one that makes me blush, and her grandmother isn't alive, so we can't ask her for opinions about.
